Police force of some kind or the other has always been present in all civilised societies from time immemorial. The police as a force was founded to protect society i.e., the life and property of the people and to prevent crime. That such a force could turn into an angel on which the police force was founded. All the good work done by a police station throughout its existence can be rendered to naught by a single case of torture in custody. Custodial torture will frighten the public.
