Introduction
A Geographical Indication (GI) is an apparatus to protect the consumer’s interest in local or traditional knowledge and also serve as a legal and economic tool for the growth of rural areas. In Indian Context GI emerged as a notable form of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs). GI authentication is a name or sign used on certain products which corresponds to a specific geographical location origin. This paper is based on the mysterious case of Rasgulla in between West Bengal and Odisha. Basically using GI tag may act as a certification that the product acquire certain qualities, or enjoy certain reputation because of its geographical region.
