Indian Law of Industrial Relations : Political Factor in Growth and Development

Industrial relations play an important role in building the economic health of a country. Better industrial relations lead to harmony in the society and ultimately contribute to the world peace (Government of India, 1951). Therefore, the importance of industrial relations cannot be gainsaid. The beginning of all these high objectives is made in the industrial unit and the work place of the worker. A worker, enjoying satisfactory work conditions with reliable communication channels with the employer and an assurance that his employment is on steady wickets, becomes confidant at work and yields better than his counterpart deprived of all such provisions and pleasures. It is for this reason that industrial relations reign supreme in the minds of employers, workers and the governments. This has provided prominence and primacy to this area in legal, social and also managerial disciplines. In the area of labour laws, industrial relations have further significance and priority.
