Public Interest Litigation and Environmental Justice

One of the burning problems of today which has arrested the minds of many scholars, statesmen, politicians, judges and environmentalists is the problem concerning the protection of environmental ecology. The growing scale of industrialization and urbanization is investing the relationship between man and nature with many complexities. Life support systems in-built in nature are being strained and vanished. In this context, public interest litigation (PIL) is a remarkable achievement of the Indian Judiciary which can be regarded as the formulation of certain new principles and pronouncement of new doctrines as part of the law in Indian perspective for protection of environment.
