Introduction
Whether punishment has any binding impact in the control of crime, is a debatable issue. It has been suggested by many jurists, that punishment has no binding effect for control of crime. For example, many death sentences have been executed in India, still then murder is on the rise. It can be then concluded that death sentence has no impact on murder. So, also in all types of offences. In fact, punishment has no deterring effect on the offenders. Where the paramount purpose of punishment is social control, grave suspicion arises, whether crime can be controlled by inflicting punishment only.
