Some aspects of Article 14 in Service Law

The vast expanse (Virat Swaroop) of Art. 14 of the Constitution of India has now begun to be realised by our Courts, more particularly the Supreme Court with the result that it is becoming increasingly possible to get the constitutional validity of various laws, rules, notifications etc. and even executive actions tested on the touchstone of "equality before law and equal protection of laws". Not that anything new has been added to Art. 14 for it has always been there ever-since its inception. The realisation of its all pervasiveness by those who were entrusted to enforce it, their pronouncements and its application by them in different situations has invigorated it has added new flesh and blood and has thus made it more potent to restrain executive excesses and to make executive elites to adhere to the rule of law.
The necessity to give equal protection of laws and to guarantee equality before law has become a crying need for there is hardly any segment of social ....
