Introduction In a police case, when an accused person undergoes detention of “police custody” for a term not exceeding fifteen days in the whole (Practically it turns out to be fourteen days) under Section 167(2) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (hereinafter to be termed as Cr. P. C.) the investigating Police Officer prays for Jail Custody of the accused person who is in police custody in a particular State/police case vide Section 167(2)(a)(i) or (ii) of Cr. P. C. The investigating police officer (hereinafter to be referred as I. O. of the case) of such a case will make a written prayer before the concerned Court in the Bail/Remand file for holding a Test Identification Parade (hereinafter to be termed a T. I. P.) of such an accused person under Section 9 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 and Section 54-A, Cr. P.
