The Importance of Bar Associations in the Legal Profession and Suggestions to Prevent its Overcrowding and Misuse

For every advocate the Bar Association attached to the Court where he practices in a sacred place for professional work, recreation with colleagues and general recognition and protection of his membership in the legal profession. Old lawyers of repute, belonging to various distinguished Bar Associations, take pride in the antiquity of the institution and tend to identify themselves with its glory, so as to mark a place for themselves in the legal profession.
Need to Preserve the Sanctity of the Institution
Though the parent statute of the legal profession, namely, the Advocates Act, 1961 (Act No. 25 of 1961) makes no mention of the Bar Association and the State Bar Councils are really the governing bodies of the legal profession in the States (Bar Council of U.P. v.
