In the present age the offences under Sections 302, 304(B), 306, 366, 366A, 372, 376, 376(2F), 376(2G), 395, 397, 399, 402, 498(A) and some other sections of the Indian Penal Code are increasing day by day. Murder has become the order of the day. People are always in a mood of loosing their temper and even due to petty matters they commit murder. Political murder and vengeance are every where. In West Bengal State amendment the statutory period of detention in Judicial custody has been extended only 30 days from the previous 60 days in respect of the offences punishable more than ten years. In Gujrat and in Orissa due to state amendment the statutory period of detention has been extended upto (i) one hundred and twenty days where the investigation relates to an offence punishable with death, imprisonment for life or imprisonment for a term of not less than ten years and (ii) sixty days where investigation relates to any other offence.
