(A) Criminal P.C. (2 of 1974) , S.154— General Diary Entry - Can be treated as @page-SC4141F.I.R. in appropriate case, if it discloses commission of cognizable offence. (Para 16) (B) Criminal P.C. (2 of 1974) , S.154, S.156— General Diary Entry - Facts recorded therein prima facie disclosing commission of offence under S. 13 of Prevention of Corruption Act - It can be treated as FIR - Could not be discarded as vague on ground that it does not contain full details of offence - Entry giving rise to suspicion that cognizable offence might have been committed - Police Officer is entitled to intercept accused and investigate the case. Cri. R. No. 1913 of 1990, D/- 28-2-1992 (Cal), Reversed. Prevention of Corruption Act (49 of 1988) , S.13— The Supdt. of Police CBI (ACB) received information on telephone from reliable source which were recorded in the General Diary. The facts stated in the General Diary Entry in the instant case are that the accused was a corrupt official and was in the habit of accepting illegal gratification; he had demanded and accepted cash to the tune of rupees one lakh approximately; and he would be carrying with him the said amount while going outstation by train.
